A so-called “black box” that communicates over a public network (such as the GSM network) normally carries information to and from the field device (which could be an alarm system) to a Command Center or Control Room.
In the Command Center, software is used by the personnel working in the Command Center to monitor the field device (alarm, vehicle etc) and take certain actions as prescribed by the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)of that Command Center.
Normally, the SOP’s are programmed into the Command Center software, which allows for a controlled and auditable process of managing events that take place in the field.
The data messages that are sent from the black box and also from the Command Center to the black box are routed via a public network (such as the GSM network). However, Infotech has written a series of middleware components which we simply refer to as our Gateway, which assists the network in handling the messaging in a more robust and voluminous manner.
This Gateway can also be set up to forward messages from any mobile device to any other mobile device. For instance, a message generated by a black box in a vehicle can be transported through the Gateway to a Command Center where the message is automatically forwarded back to a cell phone. This process is known as “Notification”.
In summary, therefore, from a technical point of view, Infotech’s Team of Electronics and software engineers are focused on developing products that are used for telemanagement and, specifically, the three key areas that are addressed are mobile assets, stationary assets and people.
