Francois founded Infotech and the Mertech Group in 1980 and has formed an integral part of the group’s progress and success. Francois is the Chairman of Infotech, Mertech (being Mergon Trust and BNF Trust) and the Atterbury Group.

Chief Executive Officer
Lebo Masekela (BSc Eng) Pr Eng

Lebo completed his BSc Engineering studies at the University of the Witwatersrand in 1988 and worked as Engineer for a number of blue chip corporates, during which time he completed the necessary training and adhered to the requirements for registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa as a Professional Engineer. Lebo entered the realm of executive management in 1998 as CEO of Lechabile Quality Strategies, a position he held until moving to Infotech as COO in October 2004. Lebo was appointed CEO as from 1 July 2005.

Chief Operating Officer
Johan Stander B.Eng (Electronic), BSc Hons (Comp Sc), Pr Eng

Johan Stander completed his engineering degree at University of Pretoria in 1991 and immediately started his working career. In the following three years he completed post graduated studies and registered as a professional engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa. He joined Infotech in 1996 as a software developer and has since then been involved in various aspects of the Infotech business including business analysis, project management and system engineering. Johan was appointed to the Infotech Board as Chief Operating Officer with effect from 01 July 2007.

Chief Financial Officer
Pepler van der Merwe CA(SA)

Pepler completed his B. Compt (Hons) at UNISA in 2000 and his articles at Ernst & Young in 2003, where he gained experience in auditing and management of audits from big listed companies to small enterprises. In 2004-2005 he spent several months in the United States and the United Kingdom obtaining overseas experience in auditing. During 2005-2007 he joined the Fraud Investigation and Dispute Services division of Ernst & Young, investigating corporate financial fraud and financial disputes. Pepler is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants. He entered the realm of executive management as CFO of Infotech, a position he was appointed in as from 1 September 2007.

Non-Executive Director
Pieter Faure

Pieter is a qualified Chartered Accountant and registered member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants. After completing his articles with PriceWaterhouseCoopers (‘PWC’), Pieter joined the Corporate International Tax division of PWC where he served as a Tax Manager until leaving the firm in May 2005. During this time he also obtained a Higher Diploma in International Tax from the University of Johannesburg. Pieter joined the Mertech Group in May 2005 as a Financial Manager, overseeing the finance function of Infotech (Pty) Ltd as well as that of the Mergon Foundation and BNF Trust. As of July 2007 Pieter’s has officially vacated his role as the financial manager of Infotech (Pty) Ltd and has been appointed as the CEO of the Mertech Group.

Systems Development
Jacques-Francois Loots (Dip Comp Sc)

Jacques-Francois studied Computer Science at the Computer Training Institute (CTI) and graduated with distinction in 1998. He was then appointed as full-time instructor at CTI and held this position for approximately 4 years before joining Infotech in 2002. In his first year at Infotech, Jacques-Francois gained valuable experience in the military environment while working through Infotech as a sub-contractor for Denel Aviation. After that he entered the commercial environment as the only web developer for the Skytrax telematics system (owned by Mobile Data at the time). During this time he also developed, and was responsible for, the billing system. Mobile Data was sold to Tracker Network (Pty) Ltd in 2007, and Jacques-Francois remains at Infotech as Systems Developer.

Head Of Application Development
Bendre Kriek (Dip Comp Sc)

Bendré studied computer science at the computer training Institute (CTI) and graduated with honours in 2002. He started his career at Fourier Systems where he held the position for approximately 1˝ years before joining Infotech in October 2004. His time at Infotech was spent designing and developing applications and components used by Netcare 911, BMW, FCMS and iFind. Bendre currently occupies the position of head of application development at Infotech.

Head Of IT Infrastructure
Karel Scott BSc Hons (Comp Sc)

Karel Scott spent his first year after school studying for a technical diploma at Damelin computer school, he graduated at the top of his class and went on to become the local area network support specialist for Damelin Pretoria. The following year Karel furthered his studies at the University of Pretoria where he finished his four year B.IT degree with distinction in 2004. Karel worked as a developer at Tsala Financial Services where he gained experience in the insurance industry. Karel joined Infotech in 2005 where he joined the project team responsible for developing the call taking system currently used by a number of blue chip clients. Karel also started development on the Electronic Patient Report Form project currently being implemented at Netcare 911 in ambulances country wide. Karel fulfils various roles in Infotech including project management and business analysis but his main function is head of IT infrastructure.
